Ran a Red Light.

Today I was in the United States of America (just a stone's throw from my house) with my good friends Steph and Jenn. I was driving.

Traffic lights in the states always mess with my mind. You know? The way they just hang there in the middle of the intersection? They just aren't like our Canadian lights.

Anyways, the traffic light I was approaching had turned yellow. I slowed to a stop, but something just didn't feel right. I sat there and the light was still yellow...then I realized, "Hey, it's one of those lights that is just always yellow?...or something?"

Just as a put my foot on the gas the light turned red. The signal to go had already registered in my brain and I couldn't even keep myself from driving right through the intersection!

Steph was like, "What? You just came to a complete stop and then ran that red light!"

Realizing my error I replied, "I know! I didn't know it was going to change colour like that!"

(This of course seems a lot more ridiculous spoken out loud.) Who would have thought traffic lights changed colour! From yellow and then to red?! Unheard of.

Hey Maria,

Being your American Friend.. I wanted to let you know that I those lights in the states are finicky... and I too am I red light runner.

For instance, last night I was coming home from Centenary, and I stopped at a red light. However, this was not your ordinary red light. It was in the ghetto. Really, that probably has nothing to do with me running the red light, but we are going to pretend that the city doesn't take proper care of this red light, and that why a ran it. It is next to a cemetary, a closed down adult video store, and a Pipes emporium where they sell cigars, cigarettes, and other not quite legal substances that one can smoke. It's probably not the safest place to be at 11:00 at night, but that's Shreveport for you.

Anyway, I'm chilling and the red light, and I decide to play with my cell phone (never a wise decision). I look back up at the light--well... I look at the truck on the other side of the intersection, and he's just hanging out... So, I am like "Oh! the lights green!" NOPE! It's not green... It's still red... and I pelt through it--not realizing that it's still red until I am half way through it... Yeah... I almost got hit--it was a fun time. So, I wanted to let you know that I too am a red light runner to the worst degree! Hope your having a great day!

Peace,
Maeg
